[Book Tag]Would You Rather

I haven't done a book tag in a while, so I figured I would spice up the blog with one. This tag was started by the booktuber RayKay Books. Basically you have to choose one or the other. Easy peasy. So let's get the show on the road!

READ ONLY TRILOGIES OR STAND ALONES

Right off the bat, this one is difficult! I'm going to say standalones because I don't think I can handle that many cliffhangers in my lifetime. Plus it's rare that the final book lives up to the first book in the trilogy.

READ ONLY FEMALE OR MALE AUTHORS

Oh this would be a sad life indeed. Female authors, only because my shelves and TBR list are filled with mostly female authors. This is completely unfact checked, but I feel like that YA market is more saturated with female authors than male authors. In fact, I would probably count the number of male YA authors that I've read on one hand.

SHOP AT BARNES AND NOBLE OR AMAZON

Quite frankly, I have never liked BN. I see no point in shopping there when my local indie store has books for the same price. I mostly only go there if I can't wait for a book to come out and I have to own it on release date. Otherwise, I do most of my shopping on Amazon because 1) cheaper and 2) 2-day shipping. Oh. Yeah.

ALL BOOKS BECOME MOVIES OR TV SHOWS

The problem with TV shows in general, is that producers don't know when to end. In my experience with TV shows, networks demand that a show continues until the viewership drops significantly, and usually there is a reason why ratings have dropped. I'd definitely rather see books as movie than dragged out into a 10-season TV show.

READ 5 PAGES PER DAY OR 5 BOOKS PER WEEK

I don't do well with self restraint, so I'll have to do the 5 books a week as long as audiobooks are included.

BE A PROFESSIONAL REVIEWER OR AUTHOR

Oh 100% reviewer. If someone disagrees with my review, that's fine. Whatever. But I don't have thick enough skin to hear people rip apart something I loved (because not everyone loves one specific book). Plus all of those signings and tours seem exhausting. Authors, I salute you.

READ ONLY YOUR TOP 20 FAVORITE BOOKS OR ALWAYS READ NEW ONES THAT YOU HAVEN'T READ BEFORE

Honestly, the only books I've reread were Harry Potter and that was ages ago. I'm not a big rereader, I may start again though because there are so many sequels coming out this year and I can never remember what happened in the previous book. So, I say read only new ones.

BE A LIBRARIAN OR BOOK SELLER

I absolutely HATE sales, although I'm sure that book stores are a separate categories from general retail. My local bookstore is somewhere I wouldn't mind working though (because they have wine. I want the wine). In the end, I would say libraries because they are such a focal point of community. I'm always so impressed by Chicago libraries because they offer so much to the community (media lab for kids, story time, neighborhood meetings etc).

Unrelated but fun story. I was at my library a few months ago just perusing the shelves and I happened upon an elderly gentleman who was watching porn on his laptop. I had to do a double take and look around to see if anyone else could see what I was seeing. Can you imagine being that librarian/security and having to explain to him that that's not allowed in the library? HA.

READ ONLY FROM YOUR FAVORITE GENRE OR ALL GENRES EXCEPT YOUR FAVORITE GENRE

I'm all about reading outside my usual genre, but to DENY me sci-fi/fantasy/dystopia? OH NO. I will happily read from that subgenre for the rest of my life thank you.

ONLY READ PHYSICAL BOOKS OR ONLY READ EBOOKS

So I like to have a book on my person at all times (usually two). It's a lot more convenient for me to bring my book on vacation than it is packing two or three hardcovers. But that means that I won't have pretty covers on my shelves. *sigh* Oh the sacrifices we make for convenience.

I'm not tagging anyone, but feel free to participate on your own blog! If not, tell me what you would rather do in the comments below!
