Bloomsbury's Boldly Bookish tour made a pit stop at Anderson's last weekend and I knew I had to be there. It was an intimate group filled with laughter and interesting tidbits about the writing process. Below you'll find something interesting tidbits I learned from Sarah Tolcser, Carolyn Mackler, Jeff Giles, and Tara Altebrando.
- Song of the Current was influenced by Swans and Amazons
- Carolyn edited The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things so that it would be relevant for teens nowadays
- Jeff Giles doesn't think that fantasy worldbuilding is any harder than contemporary worldbuilding
- Tara doesn't know how her books will end when she starts writing them
- Sara wanted to write a book where the parents were involved
- Giles wanted to write a mom that screwed up from time to time
- Tara's goal is to always flip reader expectations
Overall it was a fun event and I was soooo excited for finally meet Sarah Tolcser! She is one of the sweetest human beings and if you haven't read
Song of the Current, please do! It was one of my
favorite reads from 2017!
