Les Petites Revues [#41]

What's this, Amber is getting caught up on reviews? After a long absence, I bring you a YA fantasy conclusion, a romance that kept the laughs coming, and a YA mystery that breathes fresh life into the genre.
Title: Ember Queen (Ash Princess Trilogy #3)
Author: Laura Sebastian
Source: Publisher
Rating: 4 Stars

The Ash Princess trilogy has been such a satisfying series, it even had a love triangle that I appreciated. Throughout this series, Sebastian looked at the painful effects of colonialism and crafted memorable complicated characters. Ember Queen ended with Theo finding her place in the world as queen and preparing to go toe-to-toe with her former best friend. I couldn't imagine a more perfect ending for this series and appreciated that it addressed new themes while Theo and company prepared for their last battle for their freedom. If you're someone who prefers to read a series once it is complete, now is your chance to delve into this mature YA fantasy.

Title: Undercover Bromance (The Bromance Book Club #2)
Author: Lyssa Kay Adams
Source: Publisher
Rating: 4 Stars

The Bromance Book Club guys officially have a special place in my heart. Undercover Bromance was just as fun as The Bromance Book Club and introduced more characters that I hope to see more of in future books. Liv intrigued me in The Bromance Book Club and I knew she and Mack would be a riot together and they did not disappoint. Working a case of a serial sexual harasser, Liv and Mack's investigation mirrored that of a romantic suspense. I was a bit bummed that Undercover Bromance didn't include excerpts from the fictional romantic suspense, but Liv and Mack's chemistry made up for it.

Title: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder #1)
Author: Holly Jackson
Source: Publisher
Rating: 4 Stars

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder was a welcomed change in YA mystery. Told in various formats, Pippa sought out to investigate a 5-year old murder and the role the media played in determining the innocent and and the guilty. The investigation itself was fraught with tension and took many surprising  turns before coming to the final 'A-Ha' moment. With a background romance and a long list of potential suspects, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a must-read for any small-town-murder enthusiasts. I can't wait to return to Fairview and delve into its dark secrets once again.

Wow, a 4-star reads, I must be on a role!
Have you read any of the above? (If not I definitely recommend the audio for all of them)
