Don't Fear the Reader: Book Spine Spells

Hello everyone! Welcome to week 3 of Don't Fear the Reader. Today a present a challenge on witchery.

Something wicked this way comes!

Today I want to honor witches and everything that they do, be they good or bad, we wouldn't have some of our favorite books or movies without them!

I've always preferred good witches over bad, mostly because I like the complexity of witches. Witches are always portrayed as downright evil, so I like reading about the ones who break stereotypes and do what they feel is right.

My love for good witches comes from my childhood when I would watch nothing but Teen Witch, Sabrina, and Little Witch.

When I was 7 years-old, my parents allowed me to be  a witch for Halloween and bought me the whole getup. Black tattered cloak, pointy hat, and wooden broom. I was bouncing in the seat of the car clutching my new broom close to me. My parents took notice and thought that I was adorable. My mom turned to me and said, "are you excited to be a witch this year?"

"Yes!" I told them eagerly. "I can't wait to fly on my broomstick." And that's when both my parents shared a look and looked back at me with a raised eyebrow. "You don't think you can fly...do you?"

7-year-old Amber had no idea what they were talking about. Of course, I could fly! I had the broom didn't I? That was all I needed.

It was my mother's job to break my heart. "Amber, you can't fly....that broom is just a toy."

And thus my dream of being a witch was DASHED. I remember crying the entire car ride home and my parents had to console me for hours. I had a pretty overactive imagination as a child. I didn't understand how the images on TV weren't real.

So continues my loves for good witches. Today's challenge asks you to create a witch spell by using only book spines. You don't have to rhyme (although brownie points if you can), but it does have to resemble something of a spell. I promise you, it's not that hard!
